Thanksgiving Day, a three day feast….

The American Thanksgiving story begins with the pilgrims who sailed aboard the May-flower and reached Plymouth Rock on December 11, 1620. Following their first devastating fall in which they lost 46 of the original 102 pilgrims, they learnt to plant crops and hunt wild game from the native Americans, resulting in a bountiful harvest the next year. And so a three day feast followed in which the natives who helped them survive, were also invited. For hundreds of years, the harvest was celebrated in synchrony to nature’s whims, until 1863 when President Lincoln declared the last Thursday of November as Thanksgiving Day.
